About 1 hours´ drive from Salzburg: Take the Tauernautobahn (Tauern motorway) in the southerly direction to Bischofshofen, take the Gasteinertal exit, then Road No. 167 into the Gastein valley. Coming from the south, drive to Mallnitz via Villach, Möllbrücke and Obervellach and take the train-car ferry to Gastein.
